Together we are making a difference…
The partnership of Outreach Africa with Feeding Children of Stewart has changed the lives of thousands of needy families and children in Tanzania. With the help of FCS we have packaged and shipped nearly 2,000,000 meals to Tanzania in the past 18 months. It is our belief that efforts needed to be focused in one area of Tanzania rather than just sending a little here and there. Outreach Africa focuses its efforts and food shipments into Central Tanzania. We have seen a dramatic reduction in malnutrition and starvation where the work is focused. “No one died of starvation during our last visit”! We recognize the exceptional effort of FCS volunteers, donors and the immeasurable difference which they are making in this world. We are proud to be a FCS partner and look forward to working with FCS more in the future.

Greetings from Romania! I would like to take a few moments to express my appreciation for the work of Feeding Children International of Stewart. It is rare to find people who are committed to helping people in need around the world. I work in Romania with Child Life International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the needy – children, elderly, poor and displaced. Over the past several years I have received 40 foot ocean containers loaded with rice casserole provided by FCI of Stewart. The rice casserole has been highly accepted and appreciated by both children and adults in Romania. It has often served as a complete meal for individuals in need. I want to thank you on behalf of the thousands who have received this life sustaining food over the past several years. I pray God’s blessing upon you and your efforts as you continue to battle against poverty around the world. As we work together we can help to ensure that no man, woman or child goes to sleep hungry. I look forward to working with FCI of Stewart in the years to come. Thank you so much.

On behalf of the Granitos de Paz Foundation and the people of the city and the towns close to Cartagena (Columbia), I want to thank you for the food donation that we have received. This food you generously have donated will be very well received by families that sometimes do not have nutritious food to offer to their children. We have decided to share the food with some other well-known and respectable foundations, which will deliver it to communities close to Cartagena that have suffered flooding problems recently. The rest of the food will be delivered to families in our communities with small children and elderlies and to the Rotarian Club in our city that will also give it to communities in need. Thanks again for your generosity. Please extend our thank you note to all the volunteers who made it possible to have this food in Cartagena.

Church World Service applied its disaster response expertise and regional human resource capacity to support the work of Sri Lankan organizations following the earthquake and tsunami of 26 December 2004. Responding to an emergency is heavily dependent on timing and networking. Through its regional office in Pakistan/Afghanistan, CWS distinguished itself in the first hours following the disaster. Distribution by two CWS partners – Sarvodaya and the Interfaith Fellowship for Peace and Development reached approximately 35,000 families with Kids Against Hunger food for each family. The partners were able to reach families across much of the affected area: the Jaffna peninsula, the east coast and the southwest coast. While some recipients expressed dissatisfaction with the flavor, there was general recognition that the quality of the food was exceptional. Neither malnutrition nor severe food shortages were reported in the aftermath of the tsunami. Yet at the same time, most of those affected by the tsunami were often coping with drastically limited resources. CWS partners were particularly grateful that the food was available which then allowed beneficiaries to redirect some cash resources toward other household needs.

Greetings from the Iris Ministries base in Malawi! The people of Malawi, particularly those in southern Malawi, have had a very challenging year. From September 2005 – May 2006, food was scarce in the country and thousands came to us looking for help. Over the past several years southern Malawi has been subjected to severe drought which has wiped out the small yield each subsistence farmer might hope for. This years harvest failed again due to flash floods and then drought conditions during a critical growing period. Large humanitarian organizations have since pulled out of the region but the needy are still with us. We are presently still feeding over 3,000 families each month. These are the most vulnerable – widows and the elderly left with orphaned grandchildren, the crippled and blind who have no where else to go. The needs in this region are overwhelming.
The container you sent filled with the fortified rice meals arrived at the end of May – it was well timed to help with our June and July distributions. As well, we assisted an orphanage near us called “Good News Children’s Home” where 105 orphans and their director live by faith day after day. The day we delivered boxes of the rice meals was the same day they had just run out of food. They jumped for joy and were so happy to have received such a wonderful gift. Here is an excerpt from a thank-you note I received from the director, Stephen Zulu.
“Thank you brother for the love you have shown us by the gift you have sent us. What else can a true friend do to a friend. Even though our time was bad you did not abandon us. When the hour was dark you brought forth light. We will always cherish and remember the love you have shown us. “The food was the best ever to be eaten at Good News Children’s Home”. On behalf of Iris Ministries in Malawi and the thousands who have received food, I want to thank you for your great gift. We hope that we can continue to partner together as we continue to love the poor and unwanted.

Greetings from Malawi. On behalf of the church I would like to thank you for your time of assisting us here especially this time when people are in need of food. You are really great Ambassador of Malawians and we have nothing to say thanks for the wonderful job you are doing saving us in this time when the country is experiencing several challenges. Bishop Bvumbwe and the church are pleased with the support you are rendering to us and know that we are praying for your support. Please when you meet with the Adventist Disaster and Relief Agency and Kids Against Hunger convey our appreciation for the generosity. Let me all congratulate you for joining the ADRA-Malawi and ELCM. This is a new chapter of having people working with the church to serve the Lord. (The Adventist Disaster and Relief Agency funded the shipping of 570,000 meals to Malawi to be shared between ADRA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Malawi in their efforts to feed malnourished and starving children.)

The food from Kids Against Hunger makes a real difference in the lives of our children. Since the ration is nutritionally complete, it provides the children a better meal than our usual choices. In addition, having your support in providing these meals means that we can stretch our food budget and provide additional fresh fruits and vegetables for the children. Please tell all your organization that your donations are very much appreciated and are making a significant contribution to the health our kids.
